MAC OUTER CO. was founded by Josh Macdonald, a kid raised in the Arizona desert who always carried a natural pull toward places beyond his horizon—surf breaks, colder mountain air, and the rhythm that comes from riding boards across any terrain. Arizona gave him wide skies, grit, and an appreciation for heat, but Josh found himself equally inspired by the worlds he visited: surfing in California and Hawaii, snowboarding through Utah winters, and skating anywhere there was concrete smooth enough to ride. Over time, he realized there wasn’t a brand that blended these environments—the desert, the coastline, and the mountains—into one clean, modern identity. So he built one.

But MAC OUTER CO. wasn’t created just for aesthetics or adventure. Josh kept running into the same issue: the brands he admired were expensive. High-quality hoodies, beanies, and outdoor essentials regularly sat at $100 or more, making the lifestyle he loved feel inaccessible to most people. He wanted to create something different—gear that feels premium, fits right, lasts through real-weather conditions, and stays affordable. Pieces people could wear during cold desert mornings, windy coastal nights, mountain chill, and everything in between.
